The YOU Project (Youth Opportunities Unlimited)

The YOU project will be a city wide project that will work with ward based venues to deliver an accessible and bespoke provision for disabled and non disabled young people

We will focus our work on 7-19’s at risk of:

  • Being socially excluded
  • Limited life opportunities
  • Becoming NEET

YOU will give an individual and their family the opportunities to reach social readiness through a journey from point of contact to helping them reach their true potential.

The individual’s pathway will be customer focused and needs led by understanding their needs helping them through education to employment, from isolation to inclusion and from children to young adults ensuring high quality and support.

Activities include:

  • Individual and family counselling creating personal pathways
  • TIME (Travel, Independence, Mobility and Empowerment)
  • Inclusive sports and activity clubs
  • Volunteer Inclusion and Peer mentoring
  • Transition into social readiness including adult services: Lifestyles/Active Me/ Active Women/Leap
  • Disability Awareness for all including hate crime
  • Teaching the future teachers, coaching the future coaches
  • Multi layered forums: parents, carers and partner organisations
  • Advice and guidance for the whole family
  • Cross generational social café
