We are OKUK a young person’s drug and alcohol counselling service
OKUK is a counselling service specifically for children and young people aged 7-19 whose lives are becoming difficult through drugs or alcohol, whether this be through their own use, or through the direct effect of other peoples drug or alcohol use, for example family or friends.
OKUK recognises that there is often misunderstanding about what counselling is. Counselling is not telling people what they should do and how they should live. Counselling is a safe space where you can work out the answers for yourself with support. It’s about being listened to and heard.
Yes, if you are between the ages of 7-19 and live in Liverpool. Using drugs or alcohol may cause you problems in life. Sometimes you may use drugs and alcohol to escape from problems in your life, or maybe when other people in your world are using drugs and alcohol it may affect you. You may find yourself, for example, having problems at school or home, feeling angry, not feeling able to cope, feeling low or down, or not feeling good about yourself or your life. If so then maybe counselling could help you.
