Disability Equality Extended Team - Choices Knowsley

Who are we?

The Choices Project works throughout Knowsley and facilitates the formation of a series of inclusive playgroups. The project provides a holistic approach in delivering inclusive play provisions that build on the philosophy of inclusion and therefore breakdown existing barriers that may be in communities.

The programmes consist of a 12 week play project, including skills based and practical workshops, designed to improve the psychological, physical and social wellbeing of disabled children and young people and on completion the opportunity for participants to attend a weekend residential or day breaks to cement their friendship and evaluate the programme.

The project is open to all young people aged between 7 and 19.

Where is the project?

The project is based at The Door Merseyside Youth Association Ltd, but our projects are delivered throughout youth provisions across Knowsley.

What are the aims and objectives of this project?

The aim of this project is to provide new and exciting ways in which disabled children and young people can access inclusive play and youth provisions in Knowsley.

Whos is this funded by?

We are funded by Knowsley City Council until 31st March 2012.

What's on and when?

We deliver new and exciting ways in which disabled children and young people can access inclusive play and youth provisions during the evening We are working in Copethorne Play and Adventure Playground on a Monday evening 5:30 – 7:30pm (age 13 – 19) in Kirkby and Christ the King Centre for Learning on a Wednesday evening 5:30 – 7:30pm (7-12) in Huyton.
